Blog Entry: 2008 has brought forth new insights and new prospects for reggae/dancehall artist Walker.T While it appears as though the music industry is vastly changing and each year brings forth more new acts, the singjay is finding ways to stay grounded and focus on his music career. Walker.T started out the year with the second round of marketing for his single “I Cry”, a song he penned that was receiving very good airplay in Jamaica and various other countries including Germany and England . The single was not released due to financial inabilities due to the fact that he is financing his own career. However he continued to market the single as a means of expanding his fan base as well as spreading the massage of putting an end to the poverty, crime, violence and the injustice facing the poor. His new record label Walkerton Music Group Inc. has given him a new vision on the future and has helped him to launch a new campaign on spreading his message to the world. Walker.T has often made it clear that he is not in the music business for bling or fame but rather for bringing awareness to the key issues in society. Walker.T has taken on several projects that have some very good future possibilities. He has teamed up with various well known producers and other artist alike on numerous projects that are set to be released late 2008. Financing his own musical career has been extremely difficult but nonetheless it’s a journey that the artiste indicated that he has to do if he is going to spread his message to the world. I am not looking to be rich, he said as he mentioned the fact that he could have done other things instead of music. I could have been doing other things but I decided to focus on music because the people are crying out and no one is hearing their cries. I want to be the voice of the people says the self proclaimed “poor people’s spokesman”. He mentioned that it is time that the people have a representative at the table when it comes time to make decisions about their lifestyles. These days the artiste is focusing on getting things in order as he plans on launching an album in the fall of 2008 entitled “Strangest Things”. Even though he doesn’t know where the distribution is coming from, he is eager nonetheless in putting it together. “Even if I have to release it online through an online distributor then I will do that, as long as the people get the word”.
